Idris Elba’s star continues to rise, with the news that he’s scored the lead role in Cary Fukunaga’s (Jane Eyre) upcoming adaptation Beasts of No Nation, according to Deadline.
Based on Uzodinma Iweala’s novel, the movie centres on a young boy named Agu. After facing the death of his father and disappearance of his mother and sister, he is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters during a civil war in West Africa. He finds a friend in a mute boy named Strika and they team to face the hardships of the civil war. Idris Elba is playing the lead role of the Commander.
Cary Fukunaga is directing, although it’s not clear when the movie might shoot.
