The brilliant Pride is released in the UK on DVD and Blu-ray on March 2nd 2015, and we’ve teamed up with Pathe to give away a copy of the movie on DVD, along with a Pits And Perverts t-shirt. Plus nine runners up prizes of the shirt!
Anyone who’s seen the movie will know Pits And Perverts plays a big role in the movie, where a Daily Mail headline decrying gay people giving money to the striking miners was turned into a rallying call and an extremely popular concert.
It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.
It’s a brilliant movie, which scored a Best Picture Golden Globe nomination.
