If you haven’t seen any of Ave 43, you’ve got plenty of catching up to do. Since 2009, 82 episodes of the indie web series have been released, and as it’s a soap, some nutty things have happened in that time. A lot of it centres around gay themes and chracters, and what doesn’t is camp enough to feel quite gay anyway!
It certainly manages to fit a lot of craziness into each episode – ranging from major infidelity and devil worship, to the revelation a character has married his own father – and that’s just Chapter 80. The show is now gearing up to release its 10th season, which premieres on June 7th. Creator Justin Tanner has released a teaser to help give us a feel for what’s in store.
So what’s it all about? One of the show’s stars, Andy Steinlen, told us, “The show is set in the L.A. hipster haven of Highland Park and plotlines frequently revolve around sex, drugs, witchcraft, Satanism, split personalities, blackmail, murder, ghosts, space aliens, telekinesis, time portals to other dimensions, half-naked men…and one particularly naughty cat puppet. Yeah, it’s twisted. We’ve been running consistently on YouTube since 2009 and we’re all incredibly proud of the show. There’s nothing else even remotely like it on the web.
‘We’re currently gearing up to launch our 10th season on June 7th – and we’re excited to announce that we have some CELEBRITY GUEST STARS coming on-board, including Alec Mapa (Desperate Housewives), Charlene Tilton (Dallas), French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun), Mo Collins (MADtv), Melissa Peterman (Reba), Dave Foley (The Kids in the Hall), Ann Magnuson (Anything But Love), Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles) and Pat Loud (reality show pioneer-mom of the groundbreaking 1973 PBS series An American Family). They’ll be joined by our regular recurring cast members that include Todd Lowe (Gilmore Girls), Dale Raoul (True Blood), John Quale aka Prince Poppycock (America’s Got Talent), Constance Forslund (The Way We Were), Jayne Taini (When We Rise), Sab Shimono (Hawaii Five-0) and a host of other instantly recognizable faces from film, television and the L.A. stage.’
