Jason Bateman Joins Tangled Director’s Disney Animation Project

jason-batemanIt seems the guys at Disney Animation are learning a few things about keeping secrets from their colleagues at Pixar, as it’s been revealed that Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) is developing a new movie for them, but no details have been released telling us what it’s about.

We do know however that Jason Bateman  is lending his voice to what is said to be an ‘animal comedy’, according to THR.

It isn’t known when production will begin, or when Disney is targeting the comedy for release. This film will be Jason Bateman’s second time providing his voice for an animated feature, after his role in the English version of Luc Besson’s 2006 adventure Arthur and the Invisibles.

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day & Jason Sudeikis On For Horrible Bosses 2

horrible-bosses-movie-posterHorrible Bosses was a pretty decent sized hit, grossing $200 million around the world on a $35 million budget. Ever since it was released, there’s been talk of a sequel, but it’s only now that it’s really coming together, with the news, via THR, that Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis have finalised deals to return for Horrible Bosses 2. Jamie Foxx is also in talks to reprise his role, although he’s yet to sign on the dotted line.

The original movie followed Nick Hendricks (Jason Bateman), Dale Arbus (Charlie Day), and Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis), three friends who are sick and tired of their dreadful bosses. Unable to take anymore, they hatch a plan to get rid of their employers once and for all.

Apparently the sequel will feature a brand new set of bosses, but there is reportedly room for Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston to return (if you’ve seen the first movie, you’ll know Colin Farrell is unlikely to return).

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are writing the script, with Seth Gordon returning to direct. The shoot should take place sometime this summer.

Jane Fonda In Talks For This Is Where I Leave You

jane-fondaSince the late 80s, Jane Fonda has only made sporadic on-screen appearances, but she’s now planing a relatively rare movie appearance, as Deadline reports that she’s in talks to join Jason Bateman,Tina Fey and Corey Stoll in This Is Where I Leave You.

The film is an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit ‘shiva’ for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all their skeletons are laid bare. Fonda is in talks to play Fey, Stoll and Bateman’s mother, the recently widowed Hillary Foxman.

Shawn Levy – who directed Fey in Date Night – is set to direct the movie, based on Tropper’s own screenplay adaptation of his book.

Disconnect Trailer – Jason Bateman gets a bit dramatic & has tech troubles

I can’t help but wonder if Jason Bateman has been having a few problems with technology, which he’s now exploring on-screen. He recently starred in Identity Thief, where he has to deal with Melissa McCarthy stealing his details and pretending to be him. And now we’ve got a trailer for Disconnect, an ensemble drama all about the dangers of modern technology, which Bateman also stars in.

The movie follows ‘A hard-working lawyer, attached to his cell phone, can’t find the time to communicate with his family. A couple is drawn into a dangerous situation when their secrets are exposed online. A widowed ex-cop struggles to raise a mischievous son who cyber-bullies a classmate. An ambitious journalist sees a career-making story in a teen that performs on an adult-only site. They are strangers, neighbors and colleagues and their stories collide in this riveting dramatic thriller about ordinary people struggling to connect in today’s wired world.’

No UK date is set yet for this intriguing looking film, but it’s out in the US on April 12th. It’s certainly something more dramatic that we’re used to from Bateman, who usually sticks to comedy.

Tina Fey Says This Is Where I Leave You Opposite Jason Bateman

tina-feyWith 30 Rock coming to an end, Tina Fey has a lot more time on her hands, and so she’s been busy working her way through scripts to find the ones she wants to make. She’s currently shooting The Muppets… Again, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t also looking to the future, as THR reports that she’s now in talks to join Jason Bateman in This Is Where I Leave You.

The film is an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit ‘shiva’ for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all their skeletons are laid bare. While Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn and Leslie Mann were previously attached, it doesn’t seem they’re involved anymore, with Kathryn Hahn likely to be Bateman’s sister-in-law, while Ari Graynor, Isla Fisher, Zoe Saldana and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have all read for roles.

Shawn Levy – who directed Fey in Date Night – recently signed up to direct the movie, although it’s not 100% clear when it might shoot.

New Identity Thief Trailer – Melissa McCarthy steals Jason Bateman’s life

Identity Thief looks like it could be very entertaining, and to try and get us excited for it March 1st release, a new trailer has been released.

Melissa McCarthy plays Diana, who has unlimited funds to live it up on the outskirts of Miami. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads ‘Sandy Bigelow Patterson’ and it belongs to an accounts rep (Jason Bateman) who lives halfway across the US. With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. As he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.

The trailer suggests the film will allow McCarthy to really go wild, while Bateman can play up his trademark normal guy under extraordinary circumstances.

Identity Thief Trailer – Melissa McCarthy steals Jason Bateman’s life!

Jason Bateman teaming up with Melissa McCarthy seemed like a great idea from the moment Identity Thief was announced. Now the trailer for the movie has arrived, which suggests McCarthy is really going to be let loose to go totally mental. She plays Diana who has unlimited funds to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads ‘Sandy Bigelow Patterson’ and it belongs to an accounts rep (Jason Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S. With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. Identity Thief Character Posters Emerge, Featuring Jason Bateman & Melissa McCarthy

Universal Pictures has released two fun character posters for their upcoming comedy Identity Thief, the latest movie from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon. Jason Bateman stars as a man who discovers his identity has been stolen by a woman (Melissa McCarthy) in another part of the country.

Here’s the synopsis, ‘Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (Melissa McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson” … and it belongs to an accounts rep (Jason Bateman ) who lives halfway across the U.S.

‘With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. Zac Efron & More May Join This Is Where I Leave You

Gay director Adam Shankman is heading to cinemas next month with Rock of Ages, but he’s already planning his follow-up, as Deadline reports that he’s working on This Is Where I Leave You, and already has Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn and Leslie Mann in talks to star.

The film is an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit ‘shiva’ for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all their skeletons are laid bare. Hawn, who hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2002′s The Banger Sisters, is in talks to play the clan’s mother, while Bateman, Efron (who Shankman directed in Hairspray) and Mann would play the siblings.

It’s a great cast, and while the premise doesn’t sound that much fun, there’s plenty of humour in the tale.
