The Frozen Ground Trailer – Nicolas Cage & Vanessa Hudgens hunt John Cusack

Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and Vanessa Hudgens team up for the thriller The Frozen Ground, which looks both chilly and moody in this trailer.

The film follows Alaskan State Trooper Jack Halcombe (Cage), who sets out to end the murderous rampage of Robert Hansen (Cusack), a serial killer who has gone unnoticed for 13 years. As the bodies of street girls start to pile up in Anchorage, fear strikes a chord with the public. Risking his life, Halcombe goes on a personal manhunt to find the killer before the next body surfaces. When a seventeen year old escapee (Hudgens) reveals key information about the case, Halcombe is finally on the trail of the killer. But will he catch him in time to save the next victim?

Chevy Chase Back For Hot Tub Time Machine 2

chevy-chaseWe knew that John Cusack was out of the lead role in Hot Tub Time Machine 2, but there’d been no word on whether Chevy Chase would be back for more. Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry and Clark Duke are all set to return, with Adam Scott signing on to replace Cusack in the lead, although he will play a completely new character.

Now it’s been revealed that Chevy Chase is set to reprise his role from Hot Tub Time Machine in the upcoming sequel, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, according to Deadline.

Chevy Chase is returning as the unnamed hot tub repairman, who is always quick to dole out advice. It isn’t known if he will have a larger role this time around.

Steve Pink is directing from a screenplay by Josh Heald. Shooting should kick off later this year.

The Numbers Station is available on VoD in the UK now, and will reach DVD & Blu-ray on July 1st

The success of ‘Nordic Noir’ such as The Killing and Headhunters has caused Hollywood to look towards Scandinavia for a new crops of directors to mine. Denmark’s Karspar Barfoed is one of those who’s heard the call of American film, making his English-language debut with The Numbers Station. However he certainly hasn’t jumped into the big budget realm, as it’s a relatively small-scale, claustrophobic thriller, with limited locations and much of it taking place between just two people. John Cusack & Julianne Moore Join Robert Pattinson In Maps to the Stars

john-cusackWe already knew that David Cronenberg was set to reteam with Robert Pattinson on Maps To The Stars, but now the cast has grown, as it’s been revealed that Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon (A Dangerous Method) will also star in the movie, according to Deadline.

Production on the film will begin this July in Toronto and Los Angeles. Maps to the Stars is both a haunting ghost story and a scathing attack on the celebrity-obsessed society of LA. The plot is about two child actors ruined by Hollywood’s depravity, although we don’t know exactly who each of the actors will play.

Back when Cronenberg was trying to make the film a few years ago, he had this to say about the film, “You could say it’s a Hollywood film because the characters are agents, actors and managers, but it is not a satire like The Player … Hollywood is a world that is seductive and repellent at the same time, and it is the combination of the two that makes it so potent. I won’t fall back on some cliches or simplistic sloganeering, because the culture and what it reveals about Western culture and the rest of the world is very complex.”

Los Angeles author and screenwriter Bruce Wagner (Wild Palms) wrote the screenplay.

The Numbers Station Trailer – John Cusack must protect Malin Akerman

John Cusack is getting his thriller on with The Numbers Station, and now the first trailer for the movie has hit the web, and you can watch it below.

Cusack plays a disgraced black-ops CIA agent who gets sent to a dead-end assignment in the Nevada desert. He is told to protect a code breaker (Malin Akerman) working at an isolated CIA broadcast station. It’s supposed to be an easy job, but gets a lot more difficult when she’s targeted by unknown assailants.

The Candidate’s Kasper Barfoed directs. No UK release is currently set, but it hits US cinemas on April 26th. [Read more...]

John Cusack Up For Stephen King’s Cell

With a renewed interest in Stephen King adaptations, it was only a matter of time before the idea of making a movie out of Cell was resurrected, as it’s definitely one of the more cinematic of King’s more recent novels. Now it seems the movie is back on track with John Cusack attached to star, according to ScreenDaily. The film is being shopped to buyers at the American Film Market.

King’s novel follows the chaos that erupts after all cell phones begin emitting a strange pulse, which turns people into psychopathic killers. John Cusack will play a father trying to find his wife and son during this tragic event. Stephen King co-wrote the screenplay himself, alongside Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left).

The project was initially set up at Dimension Films back in 2006, when Eli Roth was attached to direct. That fell through and the last we heard, there was talk that the book would be adapted into a four-part mini-series. That never got off the ground and so now we’re back to film and Cusack starring.

The producers are currently looking for a director.

First Pic Of Elijah Wood In Grand Piano

Speed at a piano? Sounds a bit odd, but that’s basically the sell for Grand Piano. The first pictures from the movie has now debuted over at Twitch, and you can see it above. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Forced into early retirement because of crippling stage fright, Wood is a piano virtuoso who returns to the stage where the recital turns deadly and he is forced to literally play for his life in the tense and twisted psychological thriller.’ Apparently if he doesn’t give the performance of a lifetime, someone will kill him and his wife. Agora’s Eugenio Mira directs, with a release likely to come next year.

Crispin Glover Checks In To Motel Alongside Cusack & De Niro

Crispin Glover has joined the cast of the thriller Motel for director David Grovic, according to THR. Martin Klebba (Project X) has also signed on to the project, which already has the likes of Robert De Niro and John Cusack set to star.

Motel is about a hitman (John Cusack) who is hired by a famous mob boss (Robert De Niro). The assassin realises he has to fight his way through a cadre of other dangerous people who were also hired by the mobster to convene at a shady motel, and then teams up with a woman to plan his escape. Dominic Purcell, Sticky Fingaz, Rebecca Da Costa, and David Shumbris also star. It isn’t known exactly who Crispin Glover or Martin Klebba’s roles, but it’s easy to imagine Glover as a crazed killer.

Grovic is directing from a screenplay by James Russo, which was rewritten by the director and Paul Conway. Production is already underway, although no plans for release were announced.

John Cusack In Talks To Join Elijah Wood In Grand Piano

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Elijah Wood was set to star in Grand Piano, and now he may have some company, as Variety reports that John Cusack is in talks to co-star in the film, which Eugenio Mira (Agnosia) is set to direct.

The plot centres on a concert pianist (Wood) who returns from a severe bout of stagefright after a five-year break from performing. However, when he sits down at the piano, he sees a menacing note on his sheet music. He must give the performance of a lifetime or else a mysterious madman will kill him and his wife! The project is described as Speed at a piano. There’s no news on exactly who Cusack might play, although presumably he’ll be the bad guy.

The movie is currently looking for buyers at Cannes, ahead of a July shoot in Spain.

The first clip has now been released, with Matthew McConaughey’s reporter talking to John Cusack about a murder. The film is about a directionless young man (Zac Efron) who helps his reporter brother (McConaughey) investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row (Cusack), and in the process, falls for the woman whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence. It shoulld be out later this year.
