New The Wolverine Trailer – Hugh Jackman gets haunted by Famke Janssen

While director James Mangold has said The Wolverine is a stand-alone movie, this trailer certainly plays up the links both the X-Men movies (Logan being haunted by the death of Jean Grey) and Origins: Wolverine, while still ensuring this looks like something new.

It also gives up our first look at the rather fearsome Silver Samurai in action.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

The Wolverine opens in cinemas on 25th July 2013.

Hugh Jackman Looks Ridiculously Ripped In A Wolverine Set Pic

wolverine-set-pic1Hugh Jackman sure likes to work out for roles. Even for Les Miserables he spent three hours a day in the gym and lost as much body fat as possible so he could look like he really was a convict doing manual labour. It seems he’s been doing even more for The Wolverine, as he looks almost terrifyingly ripped in this behind-the-scenes shot.

Director James Mangold tweeted the pic, saying ‘Hiro Sanada and HJ rehearse clash of claws and blades. Hiro is a truly great actor, martial artist and friend.’#

Sanada plays Shingen Yashida, a Japanese Yakuza crime boss who disgraces his family name by turning his clan into a criminal empire. He inevitably comes up against Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

The film’s out in July.

The Wolverine Silver Samurai Poster Debuts

wolverine-silver-samurai-posterDirector James Mangold has tweeted out our first look at The Wolverine’s Silver Samurai, in the form of the inked poster above. The character, played by Will Yun Lee, will be causing problem for Hugh Jackman’s Logan when the film opens this July.

According to the official Marvel history of the character, ‘Keniuchio Harada is the mutant son of the former Japanese crimelord Shingen Harada. As a youth, Harada mastered the attendant disciplines of the medieval samurai and sought employment as a warrior for hire. He first worked for the criminal Mandrill and clashed with the blind hero Daredevil. Harada then served the Viper, an agent of the terrorist organization Hydra, as her bodyguard. In that capacity, Harada battled opponents such as the costumed crimefighter Spider-Man, the martial arts master Shang-Chi, and the team of mutant trainee heroes the New Mutants.

‘Following his father’s death, Harada sought the leadership of Shingen’s Clan Yashida from his half-sister Mariko Yashida, but was opposed by the ronin Yukio and Mariko’s lover, the mutant adventurer Wolverine. Later, Harada worked with Wolverine to free American private investigator Jessica Drew from the influence of Black Blade of Muramasa, a sword mystically imbued with its creator’s madness. Wolverine himself fell under the sword’s spell, but managed to overcome his possession after which Harada took up the sword, finding himself worthy of its power.’

Hugh Jackman’s Got His Claws Out In A New Wolverine Poster

wolverine-teaser-poster2
It doesn’t look like Hugh Jackman’s Logan is simply going to be having a nice holiday in Japan in the upcoming The Wolverine, as this poster shows him on his knees, with his claws out, screaming into a storm.

It’s a pretty good poster, and suggests that this will be less popcorn nonsense that X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

It hits cinemas in July.

New Wolverine Image Has Logan Taking In The Japanese Nightlife

The-Wolverine-preview-pic2
The Wolverine is coming July 26th, 2013, with Hugh Jackman’s adamantium enhanced mutant heading to Japan, and to get us excited, a new still from the movie has been tweeted, along with the enigmatic caption, ‘The past is always behind you, but the memories still remain.’

The stand-alone film is based on a 1980s comic book arc by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, which takes Wolverine to the Land Of The Rising Sun, where he continues to search for clues about his mysterious past.

We have to say he doesn’t look too happy in this image. In fact he looks a bit constipated.

New Pics: Wolverine, Iron Man 3 & Man Of Steel

wolverine-ew-pic1Entertainment Weekly is having a bit of a summer preview in its print issue, so Filmthrasher has kindly scanned in some of the new image from some of this year’s biggest upcoming movies, including Iron Man 3, The Wolverine and Man Of Steel.

The Wolverine pic shows off the mutant in Japan, and he’s looking angry, although there’s not too much more we can tell from the pic than that. In the Iron Man 3 image we’re presuming Pepper Potts is just hugging Tony in his suit, and its not some sort of bizarre role play sex scene. The Man Of Steel pic meanwhile expands of the recent poster, with Superman for some reason in hadncuffs.

All three movies hit cinemas between May and July.
