While you’d have thought it would have made more sense to convert Star Wars: A New Hope to 3D first, as that’s what a lot more people would be interested in seeing, George Lucas continues to plough his own ‘We’re doing this my way!’ furrow, whether it’s continually altering the movies with each release or insisting we get The Phantom Menace in 3D first.
The movie is due out next spring, and it’s only if that’s a success that we’ll get Episodes II-VI in three-dimensions, which almost sounds like blackmail to get people in the door for Phantom Menace, in the hope it’ll ensure they’ll get to see the movies they actually want to see in 3D. Now the first poster has arrived, which certainly concentrates on the stronger aspects of the film (barring the mysteriously absent Liam Neeson), while completely ignoring the existence of Jar Jar Binks and Jake Llloyd, which can only be a good thing.
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace will be in cinemas February 10, 2012, with the 3D trailer out soon.
