During the brief moment when it seemed Taylor Lautner was set to take over the Earth following the success of New Moon, he signed up star in Universal’s big budget take on the Stretch Armstrong toy. However the movie got stuck in a quagmire of script, budget and development problems.
Now it’s been revealed that the movie has moved across to Relativity Media (although it’ll still be released by Universal), and Deadline reports that a source has told them Lautner is out.
It appears Relativity is starting completely fresh and won’t be using any of the work done over at Universal on the project. They’re hoping to get a movie in cinemas on April 11th, 2014. It seems a tad ambitious to set a release date so early, but to ensure they get a good release window they’ve decided to slightly put the cart before the horse.
There’s no news on what direction they’re taking things (the Lautner take was a spy movie), except it’s safe to say the main character will be ridiculously stretchy.
