Richard Kelly has found it tough to fulfill the promise of Donnie Darko, with both Southland Tales and The Box getting a very muted response. However he’ll be hoping his next movie proves more popular, and now he’s found the first cast member for his thriller Corpus Christi, as the Venezuelan star of Carlos, Édgar Ramírez, has signed up, according to Variety.
Ramírez will play Paciencia De La Rosa, an Iraq War veteran who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, and strikes up a bizarre relationship with his boss, the affluent owner of a grocery store chain. Kelly is directing Corpus Christi from his own original screenplay, with the movie a bit of a confluence of the hip director crowd, as Eli Roth and Robert Rodriguez are producing.
The film starts shooting in July,.
