Getting someone locked in to the main role for Motor City has proved a bit tough, with Dominic Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal both coming and going from the movie, but director Albert Hughes will be hoping he’s finally got his man now that Gerard Butler is in talks to star, according to Variety.
Back in September, Dominic Cooper signed on to play an ex-con who goes on a quest for vengeance against the men who framed him and sent him to prison. Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to replace him earlier this month, but bowed out shortly afterwards, due to scheduling conflicts. Gary Oldman is set to play the villain, while Amber Heard is cast as the female lead.
Albert Hughes is directing Motor City from a screenplay by Chad St. John, which was featured on the 2009 Black List. Production is scheduled to begin in June, around the same time Butler is supposed to be shooting Brilliant, so it seems there’s more scheduling to sort out.
