Prisoners is one of those projects that lots of people in Hollywood seems excited about, but for various reasons it’s ended up being passed from director to director and actor to actor and never actually going into production.
Leo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg have all been attached at one point or another, while the likes of Bryan Singer and Antoine Fuqua have flirted with directing. The latest to come on board to helm is Incendies director Denis Villeneuve, and now THR reports that Hugh Jackman is attached to star.
Aaron Guzikowski’s much praised script follows a small-town man whose daughter is kidnapped and he responds in vigilante fashion by imprisoning a neighbour he suspects committed the crime. Hopefully with Jackman on board it’ll actually happen (the original plan should have seen Prisoners in cinemas Autumn 2010!), although with Hugh busy on Les Miserables and Wolverine, it’s not certain when the film might shoot.
