Some people would already consider Jake Gyllenhaal an enemy, as the actor manages to bring out a strange and rather inexplicable sense of loathing in some. We like him here though! And now Jake’s in talks to star in an film called An Enemy for director Denis Villeneuve (Incendies).
Jake Gyllenhaal will play a downtrodden history teacher who discovers a man who looks exactly like him on a rented DVD. The teacher decides to seek out his double, and ends up turning both their lives upside down. Jake Gyllenhaal will portray both roles, which are described as “dark and edgy” despite the premise almost sounding like a comedy.
Denis Villeneuve will direct from a screenplay by Javier Gullón, which is adapted from the Jose Saramango novel, The Double. Shooting will start relatively soon, as Villeneuve wants to shoot An Enemy before he starts production on Prisoners, which stars Hugh Jackman.
