Directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are having a good week. The Norwegians landed a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination for Kon-Tiki, which is about explorer Thor Heyerdal’s epic crossing of the Pacific on a balsa wood raft in 1947.
Now it’s been revealed they’re in talks with Legendary Pictures’ to direct the supernatural thriller Spectral. Originally written by Ian Fried, the movie is a kind of more serious Ghostbusters, which follows a special task force that hunts evil ghosts in Manhattan, New York.
Silent Night’s Jayson Rothwell recently re-wrote the screenplay. Production is expected to begin later this year. (Source: Deadline)
