Last week Johnny Depp confirmed his involvement in Dark Knight cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence, and an April shoot start was set. That means Pfister hasn’t got much time to get everything ready, so he’s now busy filling out the cast.
Paul Bettany signed up last week and now Collider reports that Rebecca Hall (The Town) is also set to star in the movie. It won’t be her first time working with Pfister, as he was the cinematographer on The Prestige, which Hall starred in.
The screenplay, written by Jack Paglen, is still wrapped in secrecy. However, it’s rumored that the film is about a group of scientists experimenting with the idea of the technological singularity – the moment where a computer becomes so advanced that it begins to learn on its own and no longer needs an operator. There’s no news on who any of the actors will play.
The film is currently set for release on April 25th, 2014.
