Making a film where societal rules are reversed is a simple idea, but it’s rarely been done successfully. For example, White Man’s Burden, starring John Travolta and Harry Belafonte, imagined a world where black people are in charge and white people are the underclass, but it came across as heavy-handed and rather over-simplistic.
A couple of years ago the short film Love Is All You Need did the festival rounds, and found success with its tale of a society where gay people rule and straights are vilified. Now that short has been posted online in full. Although once again it can be a little obvious at times, it mainly smart, insightful, well made and pretty powerful.
It certainly does a great job of pointing out the things that are often overlooked or tolerated about homophobia, which would get society far angrier if it wasn’t happening to an underclass. Take a look above.
