Shia LaBeouf may have said he’s done with Hollywood movies, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely eschewing commercial filmmaking, as he’s now in talks to star in Spy’s Kid (which thankfully has nothing to do with Spy Kids) alongside Robert de Niro, according to THR. The film will reunite D.J. Caruso, after they made 2008’s Eagle Eye together.
The film is set in the world of espionage, based on a series of true-life articles that ran in the Oregonian. Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf will play a father and son duo, with the story revolving around a traitorous spy who enlists his offspring to continue doing his dirty work.
Both actors’ final involvement in the project hinges on the screenplay. No writer has been hired at this time, so it’s very early days.
