With Christopher Nolan ruling himself out of directing Warner Bros’ planned Justice League movie, the studio is reportedly looking at Zack Snyder to direct their superhero ensemble. The news comes from the Watchmen and Sucker Punch helmer himself, in an interview with Empire Magazine.
He says, “Warner Bros.’ long-term view has been revised to embrace this new vision, just as The Dark Knight films resisted the commodification of Marvel. Whether we get a Justice League, they say, depends on Man of Steel. If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct.”
It confirms what director Ruben Fleischer said when he was asked about rumours he was on the short list of candidates to direct Justice League last year. Ruben said, “Well that’s something that Zack Snyder is going to wind up doing.”
Justice League has been rumoured for years, and while the success of The Avengers gave the idea a big breath of life, it’s still far from sure we’ll ever get to see the movie. Man Of Steel will probably have to be a huge hit to make it a reality.
