As a former Broadway star and now playing Will Schuester on Glee, there’s no doubt that Matthew Morrison has been exposed to plenty of things gay, despite being straight himself. Now he’s speaking out in support of gay marriage and putting his money where his mouth is, by donating part of the proceeds from pre-sales of his new album to the Human Rights Campaign.
Morrison has also made a video for the HRC, which you can watch above. The Human Rights Campaign is the largest LGBT advocacy organization in the US, with the Glee star stepping forward to support their Americans for Marriage Equality campaign.
In a statement, Morrison says, “I’m thrilled to join HRC in their vital work to bring full equality to all Americans. At this decisive moment, when there is so much work still ahead, I’m standing with HRC and LGBT people across the country until this fight is won.”
Morrison’s new solo album, Where it All Began, is out in the US in June. It features an assortment of classic standards, including many from Broadway musicals.
