In 2010 Hailee Steinfeld scored an Oscar nomination for True Grit, but since then we’ve had the grand total of absolutely no movies from her. That’s not to say she hasn’t been busy though, as she’s got five films in post-production, with various others in the works. Now she’s added another, as Deadline reports Steinfeld has joined the cast of Phillip Noyce’s thriller, For the Dogs.
She’ll star alongside Sam Worthington, who signed up a couple of months ago. The movie is based on a 2007 novel by Kevin Wignall, about a teenager (Steinfeld) who is orphaned after her parents are murdered. She seeks the assistance of an assassin (Worthington) to avenge their deaths, and while the lone assassin is looking for peace and an exit from the tension-filled lifestyle, the girl’s bloodthirst develops, complicating matters quite a bit.
It doesn’t sound too far from True Grit, although rather more contemporary. There’s no news on when it might shoot.
