There have been quite a few reports recently about Ben Affleck deciding what to direct next, but he may have to fit his plans for behind the camera around what he’s doing in front, as he’s now circling the male lead in the upcoming David Fincher thriller Gone Girl, according to Deadline.
It appears he’s been offered the role, but it isn’t clear whether negotiations are under way yet. If he does sign on, Affleck will make Gone Girl before moving on to starring in and directing Live by Night.
The film is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, following the husband (Affleck) of a woman who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary. Inevitably the hubby becomes the primary suspect in her mysterious disappearance. The wife is yet to be cast.
David Fincher is directing from an adapted screenplay that Gillian Flynn wrote herself.
