After District 9, Sharlto Copley said he wasn’t really planning to be an actor and was probably just gonna head back to South Africa and go back to work. However that’s changed with roles in The A-Team, Elysium, Oldboy and more. Now he’s signed up for Hardcore, from first time features writer/director writer Ilya Naishuller.
Naishuller made the well-received POV short, Bad Motherf****r, which caught the eye of Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), who handed him a deal to make a movie using the innovative point of view style.
Now much is known about the plot, although it will shoot in Russia (where Bekmambetov has a studio that can do things cheaply), but have English dialogue. The only other details, according to TheWrap, are that ‘the stylized action movie will feature sci-fi elements and find Copley killing a lot of bad guys to save a damsel in distress’.
