Gladiator, Constantine and Amistad actor Djimon Hounsou is an amazing actor, and it’s always seemed a bit of a shame he hasn’t gotten the credit he deserves – although he’s undoubtedly the most successful actor to ever come out of Benin.
Now he’s got a new role, as Hounsou has signed on to star in Fast & Furious 7, according to Variety. He’ll star alongside Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, with Jason Statham joining as Ian Shaw, the brother of Fast & Furious 6 villain, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans). Other new additions for the movie include UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, martial artist Tony Jaa, Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel and Kurt Russell. There are also expected to be several more returning cast member.
There’s no news on what Hounsou will do in the film, although it’s believed the movie takes the franchise back to it’s hometown on Los Angeles.
James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious Chapter 2) is directing from a screenplay by Chris Morgan. The film starts shooting later this year for release July 11th, 2014
