In a few weeks we’ll get to see what Spike Lee’s take on Park Chan Wook’s Oldboy is like. However he’s already planning for the future, as THR reports he’s been approached to direct Spinning Gold, which has had Justin Timberlake attached to star and produce since 2011.
Spinning Gold is set to chronicle the life of Neil Bogart, who founded Casablanca Records in 1974 and is credited with discovering, launching and nurturing the careers of a generation of music superstars. KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer, and The Village People were just a few of the acts on the roster of Casablanca Records, whose sound and image would come to define 70s pop culture.
Neil’s son, Timothy Scott Bogart, is penning the script, and will also produce the film alongside his brother, Evan “Kidd” Bogart. There’s no info on when it might go in front of the cameras.
