Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman is getting a little more serious with Labor Day, and we can get a taste of that in a new trailer, which start Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.
Reitman has previously said it’s a more straightforward work than his previous movie. ”There’s no cynicism in this movie. There’s no irony in this movie. This one is dramatic, romantic, and has moments of being a thriller — all new things for me. It felt like making my first movie again.”
Here’s the synopsis: ‘Labor Day centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.’
A Christmas Day US release is set, with the film coming to the UK in early 2014.
