For a while now Will Smith has been circling an adaptation of The City That Sailed. Now he’s firmed up his commitment to the movie, and director Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum, The Internship) has come onboard, according to Deadline.
The rather unusual adventure movie is about ‘a father and daughter on the island of Manhattan as it breaks loose and sails across the Atlantic Ocean’. Luckily this isn’t an OTT disaster film, as the city breaks off after the daughter finds magic candles that makes wishes come true. One of those wishes goes wrong when the city breaks away from the rest of the US and heads off across the ocean.
Audrey Wells is writing the script. There’s no news on when it might shoot, but it won’t be for a while as Levy has to make Night At The Museum 3 first.
