There are some who are already worried that Amazing Spider-man 2 will suffer from the same disease as Sam Raimi’s Spider-man 3 – too many villains. But hopefully they’ll be able to work out having Electro, Rhino and Green Goblin in the same film, especially as Sony is planning to build towards a villainous Sinister Six movie.
Now we can take a new look at Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin in a new image, which you can see above. He certainly looks suitably deranged. It’s still not known exactly how the bad guy will emerge in the film, as rather than being Norman Osborn, DeHaan is playing Norman’s son, who in the comic only takes over the Goblin mantle after his dad is killed by Spidey. However it appears Amazing Spider-man 2 is passing over Norman’s Goblin completely.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
‘It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.’
The movie is due in UK cinemas this April, with a May 2nd US release set.
