Ever since Enchanted became a surprisingly big hit for Disney, taking over $300 million around the world in 2007, there’s been talk of a sequel. However with various writers and directors coming and going, it looked like it would never happen.
The House Of Mouse isn’t giving up though, as they’ve just hired The Smurfs writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to come up with a script, according to Deadline. Previously the likes of Jessie Nelson (Because I Said So) has worked on the screenplay, but it’s not known whether Stem and Weiss will start over of work from an already existing draft.
We also have no details about the specific plot either, although it should take us back in the world of fairytale princess Giselle and her New York lawyer beau Robert.
After Giselle ended being banished to our world by her wicked witch stepmother and fell for Robert, they hoped for a happily ever after at the end of the first movie, but they’ll get a new challenge in the sequel.
Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is currently set to directing, although at the moment it doesn’t appears original Enchanted stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden are officially signed to return.
