While unfortunately it doesn’t mean he’ll be dressing up in a bear suit, it’s been revealed that Bill Murray has signed on to provide the voice of a computer-generated Baloo in Disney’s upcoming live-action version of The Jungle Book.
He joins Christopher Walken as King Louie, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera and Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha. There’s also Idris Elba as Shere Khan; Scarlett Johansson as Kaa; and newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli.
Based on Rudyard Kipling’s novel, the film follows Mowgli, a young boy who is raised in the jungle by wolves, while making friend with bear Baloo and black panther Bagheera. However as he grows his life is threatened by the tiger Shere Khan, who believes that having a grown man in the jungle will end up destroying it.
Jon Favreau is set to direct from a script by Justin Marks. An October 9th, 2015 release date has been set.
