Matt Damon has booked himself a new role and he’s going a bit dramatic for the movie Manchester By The Sea, according to THR. The movie will reunite him with Kenneth Lonergan, who he worked with a couple of years ago on the movie Margaret.
In the movie, ‘Damon will play a Boston-living ne’er-do-well plumber who is forced to return home to the titular town after he learns his brother passed away. (Damon is a Boston native.) There, he finds himself thrust into the care of the man’s 16-year old son but finds himself crumbling due to a secret tragedy in his past.’
The film is said to be similar in tone to Lonergan’s Oscar-nominated 2000 movie You Can Count On Me, which starred Mark Ruffalo and Laura Linney.
Manchester By The Sea is due to shoot soon, with Damon fitting the move in before The Martian starts filming in November.
