With a 2016 release date confirmation announced a couple of days ago for Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. and director David Ayer need to put a cast together fairly soon to get it ready for its August 5th release.
And it looks like they’re aiming big, as THR report that offers have already gone out to Will Smith and Margot Robbie for the movie and that they’re also eying Tom Hardy (although it’s not known if he has any interest).
If that weren’t enough star power, they’ve apparently made overtures to Ryan Gosling, but he’s in a bit of a comic book battle as it’s also rumoured that he’s near the top of the shortlist for Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
It was recently reported that Suicide Squad will focus on seven villains, who have been captured but are offered the chance for redemption with a mission none of them are expected to survive. The rumoured bad guys are Blockbuster (Mark Desmond), Multiplex (Danton Black), Jaculi, Mindboggler (Leah Wasserman), Captain Boomerang (George Harkness), Vixen (Mari Jiwe McCabe) and Deadshot (Floyd Lawton).
Captain Boomerang, Vixen and Deadshot are said to be the leads in the movie, but it’s not known which actors are being considered for which parts.
