A couple of years after Disney originally wanted it to shoot, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is heading out next February to get the cameras rolling. Now it’s time to fill out the cast, and as with the earlier movies they want a hot young star to appear alongside Johnny Depp.
Deadline reports that a shortlist for the role has now been drawn up, with Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), George Mackay (Pride), Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent), Mitchell Hope (Descendants), Ansel Elgort (The Fault In Our Stars) and Sam Keeley (In The Heart Of The Sea) in the running to play a character called Henry.
There’s no news on exactly how Henry plays into the plot, although whoever gets the role will star alongside Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, with Javier Bardem also recently going into talks to play the villain. There’s also likely to be a lot of young actresses interested in a major female role, Barbosa’s daughter Carina Smyth.
The movie is due out July 7th, 2017.
