For those of us outside the US, a Jem And The Holograms movie seems an odd idea, as the cartoon and toy line never had the impact in many countries that it did in the US. However with those who grew up with the 80s show now in positions of power in Hollywood, a movie is on the way, and USA Today has debuted a set of pics from Jon M. Chu’s movie.
The movie is about an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation under her secret identity, Jem. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt – one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.
Aubrey Peeples will be Jem, Stefanie Scott will be her little sister Kimber, while Hayley Kiyoko and Aurora Perrineau with be band members Aja and Shane. And as the pics above show, there’s also added hotness in the form of Ryan Guzman.
It certainly looks big, rock-driven and more than a little camp, at least from these photos anyway. The film is out this autumn.
