A few years ago the news that Robert Rodriguez was taking on a movie would be reason for excitement, but we’ve had a few too many Sharkboy And Lavagirls, and Sin City: A Dame To Kill Fors, for it to mean the same as it once did.
Nevertheless THR reports that Rodriguez has signed up to helm Warner Bros’ live-action Jonny Quest movie. You can see why he’d appeal to the studio, as Rodriguez offers a full service, as he owns his own studios and visual effects company, allowing him to make movies much cheaper than comparable companies. As Warner don’t want to spend the earth on Jonny, it makes sense.
Jonny has had several incarnations over the year, but all follow the young title character, who goes on a series of incredible, action-filled adventures with his father. For several year there have been attempts to take the character live-action, but they have all stalled. Perhaps this one will have more luck.
