Hollywood really will make a movie about anything. After all, what did Neil Armstrong ever do, other than be the first man on the moon? Ok, fair enough, maybe that is a good enough reason to make a movie about him.
Whiplash’s Damien Chazelle is planning to helm a movie based on James Hansen’s Armstrong biography First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong, and he wants Ryan Gosling to star. Deadline reports that talks are taking place to the actor, but no deal has been struck yet.
The film would reunite Gosling and Chazelle, who’ve been working together recently on the upcoming La La Land.
Neil Armstrong was a aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot who became NASA’s first civilian astronaut. Then, on his second and last trip into space he became the first man to walk on the moon. Afterwards he lived a far quieter life than he could have done, largely working as an educator and businessman. He died in 2012.
