It appears that not content with fighting in Mission: Impossible and The Avengers, Jeremy Renner wants to hit some people very hard, as Deadline reports that he’s attached to star in a biopic of legendary boxer Rocky Marciano. Samuel Franco and Evan Kilgore are writing the script, although no director is attached s yet.
Titled Undefeated: The Rocky Marciano Story, the film will be the first authorised biopic of the fighter, as those behind the movie have bought Rocky’s life rights. As Variety points out, ‘Marciano remains the only heavyweight champion to retire from his professional career undefeated 49-0. Best known for his relentless style, Marciano held the heavyweight crown from 1952 to 1956, and defended his title against Jersey Joe Walcott, Roland La Starza, Ezzard Charles, Don Cockell and Archie Moore before retiring at the age of 32.’
The movie will follow the pugilist from his childhood through to his death in 1969, when he perished in a plane crash. It’s still early days for the movie though, so don’t expect to see it for some time.
