However, Hanks has a different idea, where he’ll steal Tatum from Bell.
Talking to AP at the US premiere of Inferno about whether he’d be willing to play Allen Bauer in the remake, he said, “No one asked me! I’m all in favor of it. Why not? That’s fine! I figure if they were really going to be bold, I would come back as Allen Bauer, and I would go off with Channing Tatum. That would be a bold movie, and I am suggesting it right now. Put THAT on your APwire.”
While I think it’s unlikely we’ll see Tatum and Hanks running off together, it certainly seems like he’d entertain the idea of making an appearance in the new version of Splash (and perhaps they can bring Darryl Hannah back). The movie may also retain the original director, Ron Howard (who also, of course, directed Hanks in Inferno), but he’s waiting to see the script and schedule before he decides.
