Australia has made a lot of good gay-themed movies and shows, and it looks like they’ve got another one on their hands with the four-part series Deep Water, which uses the story of a killer using gay dating apps to also explore gay-bashings in the 80s and 90s that the police pretty much ignored.
Synopsis: ‘A thrilling Australian crime drama following two detectives as they track down a serial killer who hunts his victims through a dating app. ‘Based on real-life gay bashings in Bondi Beach during the 1980s and early 1990s, this is a haunting and dramatic tale of institutional indifference to gay hate crime.
‘Stars Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black) and Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders) as the lead detectives.’
The series will be released on DVD in the UK via Peccadillo Pictures on January 30th. Take a look at the trailer below.
