Chris Columbus Circling Video Game Movie Pixels

May 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

CHRIS-COLUMBUSBack in 2012, Happy Madison and Sony were quick to snap up the rights to Patrick Jean’s short Pixels: Retro Gamers, with the assumption at the time that Jean would be the one making his move into cinema with the feature-film version. However now another name is in talks to helm, Chris Columbus (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson), according to TheWrap.

Jean’s short film was about 1980s arcade characters attacking New York City. However the movie version will go slightly more Wreck-It Ralph, with characters emerging from a video game to mess up our world, and the government recruiting a group of hardcore gamers to battle them.

Tim Dowling did a recent rewrite of the script, which was originally penned by Tim Herlihy. There’s no word on whether Adam Sandler is still planning to star, which was the original plan.

Colin Firth, Emily Blunt & Adam Sandler Will Have A Murder Mystery

April 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colin-firthFor a while John Madden has been plotting Murder Mystery as his follow-up to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, with Charlize Theron attached to star. Now the cast has grown significantly, with THR reporting that Colin Firth, Adam Sandler, and Emily Blunt have also signed up to appear in the movie.

James Vanderbilt’s script is about a pair of American newlyweds visiting Europe on their honeymoon who get implicated in a murder they witnessed. There’s no news on exactly who any of the cast members will play, although Sandler and Theron will presumably be the American couple.

The film will shoot in Germany later this year.

Grown Ups 2 Trailer – Taylor Lautner goes for laughs alongside Sandler, Rock and co.

April 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Is Taylor Lautner funny? Well, it seems like he might be, as he doesn’t do too badly in the trailer for Grown Ups 2.

The movie sees the cast from Grown Ups returns – Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maria Bello – for more summertime laughs. Lenny (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.

As you’d expect from Sandler, half the jokes seem to be about potentially gay things, because apparently anything that could even possibly be construed as gay is absolutely hilarious! Let’s hope the actual film is laughing with rather than at homosexuality.

Lautner, Milo Ventimiglia and various others join the franchise, which is due to hit cinemas in July. [Read more…]

March 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

drew-barrymoreLast month it was revealed that Adam Sandler was ditching a comedy western he’s been planning and was instead hoping to lure Drew Barrymore into a reunion for a new rom-com. Now Variety reports that he’s got his wish, as Drew has officially signed on for the currently untitled comedy, which Frank Coraci is directing.

Adam Sandler Plans A New Rom-Com With Drew Barrymore

February 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adam-SandlerFor a while Adam Sandler has been putting together a western comedy called Ridiculous 6, but it appears that film is now being put on hold while they work on it some more, and instead Sandler is pushing forward with a currently untitled romantic comedy being developed by Warner Bros.

Variety also reports he is hoping to re-team with The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates co-star Drew Barrymore on the film, although it doesn’t appear that she’s signed up yet.

Jim Carrey & Adam Sandler Sought For Guardians of the Galaxy

January 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jim-carreyWhile we’ve heard about numerous candidates for the lead role of Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, now Latino Review suggests the comic book company is looking at comedians Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for roles in the movie. It isn’t clear what parts they are being eyed for, although it’s been suggested they may be being sought to voice CG characters such as Rocket Raccoon and Groot.

Actors Wes Bentley, Cam Gigandet, and Chris Lowell have also recently tested for the Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star-Lord) role in this superhero adventure. Last month, we reported that Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi were the finalists for the Star-Lord lead role. Since then, though, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Rosenbaum have also tested for the part, there’s bee no news on whether any of them have actually scored the part.

James Gunn is directing from his own screenplay. Shooting will begin this summer at London’s Shepperton Studios.

That’s My Boy (DVD)

January 20, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Vanilla Ice, Leighton Meester
Director: Sean Anders
Running Time: 116 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 21st 2013

With Razzie nominations, a 22% rotten score on RottenTomatoes and plenty of critical derision – one reviewer said, ‘It may be the worst film, in any genre, ever made’ – I can’t say I had much hope for That’s My Boy, especially as I’m not exactly a member of the Adam Sandler fan club. However That’s My Boys wasn’t quite as dreadful as I expected – don’t get me wrong, it’s not a great movie, but it was just about watchable [Read more…]

Adam Sandler Up For Spoof Western Ridiculous Six

October 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adam Sandler has made comedies in all sorts of subgenres, but one place he hasn’t really gone before is the western. Now he seems keen to remedy that, as Deadline reports that he and his production company, Happy Madison, are moving forward with the wild west spoof, Ridiculous Six.

Not too much is known about the plot, although the title is a play on The Magnificent Seven, so expect a group of bumbling, accidental heroes fighting off some banditos (and what’s the betting Sandler manages to squeeze Rob Schneider in there somewhere).

The film was originally set up at Sony, but has now moved to Paramount. Sandler will co-write with his longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy. No director appears to be attached as yet, but shooting is scheduled to kick off next April.
