New Jobs Trailer – Ashton Kutcher is an Official American Legend

While Jobs got a bit of a mixed reaction when it debuted earlier this year at Sundance, there’s certainly a fair amount of interesting in the movie. Now a new trailer has popped up, so we can get our own feel for the film, which promises it’s about an ‘Official American Legend’.

The film is about Apple co-founder Steve Jobs (Ashton Kutcher), following him ‘from the enthusiasm and self-discovery of his youth through his darkest days, brightest triumphs, and the ultimate power of his drive, his passions, and his undying will to change everything we thought possible. Dark, honest, and uncompromising, Jobs plunges into the depths of Steve Jobs’ character, uncovering his driving motivations, his gifts, his flaws, his failures, and his ultimate successes.’

Jobs got a bit of a mixed reaction when it debuted earlier this year at Sundance, with some saying it was interesting and well acted, while others found it a bit of a dull journeyman effort. The distributor when delayed it from a planned spring opening, with some saying they may have been doing some tinkering in the editing room.

Now a colourful new poster for the movie has emerged, with Ashton Kutcher doing a good job of looking like Steve Jobs.

The film is about Apple co-founder Jobs, following him ‘from the enthusiasm and self-discovery of his youth through his darkest days, brightest triumphs, and the ultimate power of his drive, his passions, and his undying will to change everything we thought possible. First Official Look At Ashton Kutcher In jOBS

There have been two Steve Jobs movies floating around Hollywood, a semi-official one that Aaron Sorkin is writing, and another that’s streaked ahead and has already been filmed, with Ashton Kutcher in the lead role.

The news has just been announced that the movie, title jOBS, will premiere at Sundance in January as the closing night film, and with that has come the first official photo from the movie, showing Kutcher as a young Steve Jobs in the early days of Apple. He’s certainly a good match for the technology guru in his younger days.

Here’s the Sundance synopsis: ‘jOBS / U.S.A. (Director: Joshua Michael Stern, Screenwriter: Matt Whiteley) — The true story of one of the greatest entrepreneurs in American history, jOBS chronicles the defining 30 years of Steve Jobs’ life. jOBS is a candid, inspiring and personal portrait of the one who saw things differently. Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Matthew Modine.’

James Woods Joins Ashton Kutcher In Jobs

Ron Eldard, John Getz, Lesley Ann Warren and James Woods have joined Ashton Kutcher in Jobs, the biopic about the iconic Silicon Valley visionary which started shooting a couple of weeks ago. The cast also includes Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, Matthew Modine and Dermot Mulroney.

Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote, Neverwas) directs, from an original screenplay by Matt Whiteley, with the film chronicling Steve Jobs’ transformation of character from the enthusiasm and self-discovery of his youth, to the personal demons that clouded his vision, and finally to the ultimate triumphs of his later life.

Ashton Kutcher plays the title role, with Josh Gad portraying Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Ron Eldard is Apple designer Rod Holt; John Getz portrays Jobs’ father, Paul Jobs; Lesley Ann Warren plays Jobs’ adoptive mother, Clara Jobs; and James Woods is Jobs’ former Dean of Students, Jack Dudman. Lukas Haas is Apple engineer Daniel Kottke; Matthew Modine portrays former Apple CEO John Sculley; and Dermot Mulroney is investor and second Apple CEO Mike Markkula.

Matthew Modine Joins Steve Jobs Biopic

A Steve Jobs biopic, simply titled Jobs, is already shooting, but it’s still adding to its cast, as THR reports that Matthew Modine has joined the movie, playing John Sculley, who Jobs recruited to lead Apple in 1983 and famously ‘fired’ the co-founder of the company two years later. Sculley remained as Apple CEO from 1983 to 1993.

Modine comments, “It’s my feeling – and I think there’s a lot of people who feel – that had John Sculley not fired Steve Jobs from Apple Computers and [let] Steve go on the journey that he did when he was away from Apple Computers, that we wouldn’t be speaking about Steve Jobs today.”

Ashton Kutcher is playing Jobs himself, with the film tracing the man’s story from the 1970s through to the 21st Century. Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) directs, with Josh Gad starring as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. It’s due out this autumn, rushing into cinemas to get a good head start on a rival, slightly more official Jobs film, which is based on the acclaimed biography by Walter Isaacson and with a screenplay by The Social Network Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin.

Josh Gad Joins Steve Jobs Biopic As Steve Wozniak

There were a few raised eyebrows when Ashton Kutcher was cast as Steve Job in a new independent biopic – until pictures of the two of them at the same age were compared, and it suddenly made a lot more sense. However there will probably be fewer people who’ll wonder if Book of Mormon and Love & Other Drugs star Josh Gad will be a good fit for Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Jobs and ‘Woz’ first became friends as Hewlett Packard in 1970. While Wozniak wasn’t sure about Jobs’ idea of selling computers as fully assembled, off-the-shelf bits of kit, he eventually threw his lot in and the two set up Apple in 1976. That was the beginning of a 12-year business relationship, where it’s said the duo never became close friends, but did develop a bond that remained until the end of Jobs’ life.

Joshua Michael Stern is directing Jobs, which will follow Steve from his early, hippie days, through the founding of the enormous tech giant. Shooting will begin next month. (Source: Variety)

Ashton Kutcher To Play Steve Jobs

Ever since Steve Jobs passed away there has been interest in Hollywood in making a biopic about the founder of Apple. Several projects have been put into development, but now one has pulled ahead of the pack with the news, via Variety, that Ashton Kutcher has been cast in the lead role.

The film will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) from a script written by Matt Whiteley, following Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time. It’s not certain how much of Jobs’ life the movie will cover, and whether it will follow through to his illness and Apple’s more recent rise to being one of the biggest companies on the planet.

It’s a more dramatic role than we’re used to from Kutcher, and may allow him to show his got more acting chops than mast suspect. He also looks surprisingly like Jobs in his younger days.

The film will begin to shoot in May, when Kutcher is on his Two and a Half Men hiatus.
