Ever since its Sundance debut, Jon Kasdan’s The First Time has been getting praise as a particularly fun and charming example of the well-worn teen movie subgenre of people trying to get laid for the first time. The movie hits US cinemas on October 19th, but no UK date is currently set. In the film, Dave (Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien) is a high school senior who spends most of his time pining away over a girl he can’t have. Aubrey (Secret Circle’s Britt Robertson), a junior with artistic aspirations, has a hot boyfriend who doesn’t quite understand her or seem to care. Dave and Aubrey meet one night at a party. A casual conversation sparks an instant connection, and, over the course of a weekend, things turn magical, romantic, complicated and funny as Aubrey and Dave discover what it’s like to fall in love for the first time.
Secret Circle’s Britt Robertson Up For Starbuck
While Britt Robertson might has hoped she’d shooting the second season of The Secret Circle by now, her diary suddenly freed up when the series she played the central role in got cancelled. Now she’s found something to do as she has joined the cast of DreamWorks’s Starbuck. She will play the daughter of Vince Vaughn’s character in this comedy, one of his hundreds of kids.
The story, based on the French-Canadian movie Starbuck, is about a man (Vaughn) who comes to realize that he has fathered 533 children through his sperm donations over the years. When several of his kids come forward, he must come to grips on whether or not to reveal his identity. Chris Pratt also stars as the man’s attorney, and Cobie Smulders will play his pregnant girlfriend. The title comes from the anonymous nickname the man used to make his deposits.
Original Starbuck director Ken Scott is back at the helm for this remake, working from his own script. Shooting is scheduled to start later this year. (Source: Deadline)
