Dan Radcliffe Talks Gay Sex Scenes In New Film

April 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If you’ve ever wanted to see Daniel Radcliffe snogging another guy, your chance will come soon when Kill Your Darlings is released, which features the Harry Potter actor as gay poet Allen Ginsberg.

He’s been talking to People Magazine and touched on whether he found the gay sex scenes awkward. He known to be very gay friendly, but simulating gay sex may have been another matter. However he says, “There was no discomfort. There have been moments when Dane [DeHaan – Chronicle], the object of my affection in the film, and I did start giggling.”

As for whether Harry Potter fans will mind him playing gay, he says, “Well, they were comfortable with Equus, and that had me simulating sex on the back of a horse, so this is a walk in the park.”

Kill Your Darlings speculates around real-life events involving beat generation legends Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William S Burroughs. They were all brought together by Columbia University student Lucien Carr, who was implicated in (and served time for) the murder of David Kammerer, who was found dead in Hudson River in 1944. Carr claimed the death was an accident after Kammerer made an unwanted sexual advance, although they had known each other for several years (and it has been claimed they were lovers). The events surrounding the death are said to have had a massive impact on the beat circle, and tempered the idealism they had felt beforehand.

The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, David Cross and Kyra Sedgwick, and should be in cinemas later this year. (Quotes via Out)

Hammer Plans The Woman In Black 2

April 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hammer scored a huge hit with The Woman In Black, which has taken over £20 million in the UK to become the highest grossing horror-thriller of the last 20 years in Britain. Having crossed $120 million worldwide, it’s perhaps not surprisingly Hammer would like to make a follow-up.

They’ve now announced that Hammer and Talisman are developing Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black: Angels Of Death for the big screen, a new film which continues the story of The Woman in Black 40 years on. Screenwriter Jon Crocker (Desert Dancer) is working on the screenplay, which is based on an original story by Hill, which has been under development for the past few years and is now complete.

The Woman in Black is set in the early 1900’s and follows a young lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe) who is ordered to travel to a remote corner of the UK to sort out the papers of a recently deceased client. In the eerie setting of Eel Marsh House he discovers the vengeful ghost of The Woman in Black. This next instalment, The Woman in Black: Angels Of Death, will continue this story four decades later and focus on the concept of a couple and the experience they have when they encounter the haunted setting of Eel Marsh House.

It sounds like Radcliffe is unlikely to be needed if this is set decades on, unless Hill has found a way around this (although his character could be involved). There’s no news either whether Jame Watkins will direct, although Hammer does say The Woman in Black: Angels Of Death will be brought to the big screen by the same production team behind first film.

First Look At Daniel Radcliffe As Gay Poet Allen Ginsberg

March 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dan Radcliffe is busy playing gay at the moment, as Allen Ginsberg in the movie Kill your Darlings. Now the first set pics of him in costume has shown up over at Huffpo. You can see one of them above, then click below to enlarge some more, alongside a pic of the real Ginsberg.

Kill Your Darlings speculates around real-life events involving beat generation legends Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William S Burroughs. Daniel Radcliffe Talks Manscaping (And His Lack Thereof)

February 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Daniel Radcliffe in Equus

Thanks to Equus, the Internet is full of blurry pics of what Daniel Radcliffe’s got going on below the waist, but if you’ve ever wondered what he does in terms of manscaping, he’s decided to enlighten us. He is an oddly open young man, after all!

In an interview with Heat, he spoke about his role as gay poet Allen Ginsberg in the upcoming movie Kill Your Darlings and what that means for his body hair. He says, “I’m comfortable with my body. I’ve just been having a discussion with the guy who’s directing my new project (John Krokidas).

“It might have a bit of nudity and he said, ‘Just to let you know, if you’re getting naked, no landscaping of any kind. This is the 1940s.’

“I’m pretty much there anyway, mate! Not a huge amount of maintenance going on.” He did add though, “I mean, there’s a little bit, obviously, for courtesy.”

That just makes me wonder though – what counts as courtesy maintenance and what doesn’t?

He’s not a big fan of women completely removing the carpeting either. He added, “This is way too much information, but I don’t like girls with nothing down there either. It kind of freaks me out. You have to have something, otherwise it’s f—ing creepy.”

Well guys, just remember to keep your pubes, in case Dan ever turns!

Daniel Radcliffe Defends Casting As Gay Poet Allen Ginsberg

January 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman In Black

A few weeks ago it was revealed that Daniel Radcliffe was set to play gay poet Allen Ginsberg in a movie called Kill Your Darlings. The film about a murder case that united three of the most important figures of the beat era – Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William S Burroughs – before any of them made their name.

Ginsberg, famed for his poem Howl, is best known from images of him when he was in his 30s. At that point he had a huge bushy beard and receding hairline, leading to accusations that Radcliffe is the wrong person to play him. This is despite the fact the rather dashing and beardless James Franco played him only a couple of years ago in Howl.

Now Radcliffe has been defending his casting, telling the BBC, “Any criticism of me not looking right for the part – well, James Franco is way too good-looking to play Allen Ginsberg.”

Radcliffe added, “This is a 19-year old Ginsberg. I remember somebody saying to me, ‘Are you going to grow a beard?’ No, l’m not playing him at 40. That would be weird, they wouldn’t have cast me. He’s 19, clean shaven and has just got into Columbia University.”

Kill Your Darlings is about Columbia University student Lucien Carr, who was implicated in (and served time for) the murder of David Kammerer, who was found dead in Hudson River in 1944. The events surrounding the death are said to have had a massive impact on the beat circle – including Ginsberg, Kerouac and Burroughs – who all became involved in the case, with it tempering the idealism they had felt beforehand.

Shooting is due to begin in March. Radcliffe will next be seen in The Woman In Black, which opens in the UK on February 10th.

New Woman In Black Poster Goes Old-School Hammer

January 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While the reborn Hammer Films has been around for a few years now (getting involved in the likes of Let Me In), The Woman In Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe, is probably the closest to the films the company was famous for in the old days. They’re playing that up with the fab new poster above, which was inspired by the classic poster images for the old-school Hammer horror movies.

It’s great fun for a film that promises plenty of jumps and chills when it’s released on February 10th.

Elizabeth Olsen & Jack Huston Want To Kill Your Darlings

January 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago Daniel Radcliffe signed up to play gay poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill your Darlings. Now he’s got some company as Variety reports that Elizabeth Olsen, Jack Huston and Dane DeHaan have joined the movie.

The based on a true story thriller is based around how a murder at Columbia University in 1944 brought together the young writers who would spark the Beat Revolution. Elizabeth Olsen is set to play Edie Parker, the wealthy art-student girlfriend of Jack Kerouac, who will be played by Jack Huston.

Dane DeHaan plays Lucien Carr, a classmate of Ginsberg’s for whom he develops feelings. Carr was implicated in (and served time for) the murder of David Kammerer, who was found dead in Hudson River in 1944. The events surrounding the death are said to have had a massive impact on the beat circle, and tempered the idealism they had felt beforehand.

After a tricky development period, which has seen the film lose one cast (Chris Evans, Jesse Eisenberg and Ben Whishaw were once due to star), the film is due to start shooting in March, with John Krokidas directing.

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 24 – Daniel Radcliffe

December 24, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Now that the Harry Potter films have come to an end, are we allowed to think Daniel Radcliffe’s a very sexy young man without feeling like perverts? To be honest it’s his own fault people all across the globe have been feeling awkward, because one minute he’s play a boy wizard on screen and the next he’s appearing naked in Equus. It does your head in, but we still reckon he deserves to be our final Advent Calendar guy!

Now he’s all grown up and as the pictures in the galley below attest, he isn’t averse to getting his shirt off and looking hot. He’ll next be seen in the creepy movie The Woman In Black, which is out in February, but for now just enjoy some Christmas Eve Daniel Radcliffe hotness! [Read more…]

Growing Up With Harry Potter

December 2, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

One of the most unique things about the Harry Potter series is how it managed to keep the same group of actors throughout its entire run, and not only that, but it saw many of them grow up from kids into adults.

With the release of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 on DVD & Blu-ray, we thought it was the opportune moment to take a look exactly how Harry has aged from a little kid to a young man through the movies, and how we’ve been able to follow his journey through a truly extraordinary series of film.

Running Time: 125 mins

Release Date: December 2nd, 2011

Harry Potter has undoubtedly been one of the greatest phenomenons in movie history. It’s managed eight films without a dud, grossed more cash than any other franchise in history, and perhaps most impressively has kept nearly all the same actors throughout its run. It’s been a part of many people’s lives for a full decade, especially those who’ve grown up alongside Harry and co. Indeed, when I saw Deathly Hallows Part 2 in the cinemas I was sat behind a university-aged young man who announced as the end credits began to roll, “Well, that’s my childhood over.” [Read more…]
