G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra got pilloried by many people, but it actually made a fair amount of cash. So while Paramount was keen to continue the franchise, it appears they also wanted to start over a little as well – or at least that’s what this trailer suggests. Going for a less flashly silly style than the first film, this looks like it’ll be more grounded and action-packed. It’s actually kind of interesting though that Channing Tatum’s Duke seems to be slightly sidelined in favour of introducing Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as the original GI Joe, as well as showing off some spectacular Snake Eyes fighting. The film June 22nd, but enjoy the trailer.
Mark Wahlberg & Dwayne Johnson Feel Pain & Gain
For years now Michael Bay has been talking about making a movie called Pain & Gain. However, each time he’s put plans in motions, he’s eventually agreed to direct another Transformers movie first. Now that he’s finally left the robots behind, he’s putting Pain & Gain together again, and Variety reports that he’s closing in on his cast.
Dwayne Johnson is said to be in talks to star in the dark comedy, with Mark Wahlberg also circling a role. The film centres on a pair of Florida bodybuilders who get caught in the middle of an extortion and kidnapping scheme. It is said that Mark Wahlberg may have scheduling issues to clear up before he signs on, but he has discussed the project with Michael Bay.
Michael Bay will direct Pain and Gain from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger). The project is based on a 1999 article in the Miami New Times which chronicles this true story crime tale. The tone of Pain and Gain has been compared to Fargo, with Bay said to want to shoot it fast and dirty, finally proving he not just about explosives and special effects.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island UK Trailer
Parody trailers that make a movie from one genre look like it’s from another (e.g. making The Shining seems like a comedy) are popular of Youtube, and now we have the same thing for an actual movie. The US trailer for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island hit a couple of weeks ago and painted this follow-up to Journey To The Center Of The Earth as a rather silly, fun family romp, but not the UK trailer turns everything far darker and more dramatic (until the end at least). It does look like it might be oddly entertaining though. Brendan Fraser bailed on this one after director Erik Brevig was replaced by Brad Peyton, and so this time Dwayne Johnson’s along for the ride, playing Hutcherson’s prospective stepfather, while Vanessa Hudgens and Luis Guzman also have to deal with various strange beasties on the titular island, all while looking for Michael Caine! It’s due in cinemas February 10th.
Dwayne Johnson Will Be A Monster Hunter
Actor Dwayne Johnson has joined the cast of The Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide, according to Deadline, adding to the actor’s already hectic schedule. The project is based John Paul Russ’ graphic novel series, which gives readers comprehensive instructions on how to track down and slay various monsters.
Johnson has com onbaord early though, as it doesn’t seem that a writer is attached to adapt the project quite yet. That’s probably a good thing as Johnson has plenty enough to keep him busy. He’s currently filming G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, where he portrays Roadblock. After that, the actor will move on to Snitch, Ric Roman Waugh’s drama about a father (Dwayne Johnson) who agrees to go undercover in prison to try and bust a drug kingpin to help his incarcerated son get a lighter sentence.
He’s also got more Fast & Furious in the pipeline, along with several other films.
