It always help to get studio interest (and a bigger paycheck) if a film project comes with a movie star attached, and it appears that having Dwayne Johnson onboard Lore has aided that movie getting snapped up by Warner Bros.
An adaptation of Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise’s graphic novel has been in the works for a couple of years, but it only got a studio deal once Johnson came on board, with Warner beating out interest from three other parties. Lore is described as being similar to Men In Black, but about mythological creatures rather than aliens. In it, a man reluctantly become a member of an elite secret order, whose job is to protect humanity from the beast of folklore that threaten to invade our world.
Priest writers Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott have been hard at work on the adaptation, which should go into production later this summer. There’s no director attached as yet, but Variety reports that several are circling.
