Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer – Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson & co. are back, pitches

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pitch-perfect-2-poster-slideThe ladies of a cappella return next year with Pitch Perfect 2, and after the poster a couple of days ago comes the trailer, which throws us back into world of major modern hits being given a great harmonious makeover.

The stakes are also raised with Anna Kendrick and co. heading off to the world a cappella championships – which seem far bigger and more rock ‘n’ roll that you might expect. It’s also great to see Rebel Wilson’s Fat Amy back in action, and it looks like she’ll be just as much fun this time around.

Along with returning stars such as Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow and Elizabeth Banks, Hailee Steinfeld joins the ranks, with the actress said to have come on board in preparation with a possible Pitch Perfect 3.

The film hits cinemas next spring. [Read more…]

Rebel Wilson Gives Us A Fresh Look At Anna Kendrick & The Pitch Perfect 2 Ladies

May 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pitch-perfect-2-cast-photo2It seems Rebel Wilson is keen to keep us up to date with happening with Pitch Perfect 2 as a couple of weeks ago she released a pic of the first day of rehearsals, and now we get a new look at the Barden Bellas.

The first pic was missing one key fixture – Anna Kendrick – but she lined up for this one, along with the likes of Brittany Snow, Elizabeth Banks, Ester Dean, Kelley Jakle, Alexis Knapp, Chrissie Fit, Hana Mae Lee and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld.

Plot details are still a little thin on the ground, but its believed the film will follow Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick’s Beca and Fat Amy through to their university graduation. Steinfeld is playing a new character who could become the lead is a third Pitch Perfect movie is ever made.

Elizabeth Banks is directing, with a May 2015 release date set.

Hailee Steinfeld Joins Anna Kendrick & Rebel Wilson In Pitch Perfect 2

April 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hailee-steinfeld-pitch-perfect2A few days ago the ladies of Pitch Perfect 2 posed for a picture marking the first day of rehearsals. However at the time, casting-wise we’d only heard that nearly all the cast of the first film would be back for the follow-up.

However now Variety reports there’s a newbie, as Hailee Steinfeld (Rome & Juliet, True Grit) has signed up for the film. Universal confirmed that shortly afterwards with the picture featured to the right.

Plot details are still thin on the ground, but its believed the film will follow Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick’s Beca and Fat Amy through to their university graduation. If that’s true it would suggest they wouldn’t be around for a potential third movie, but Universal has reportedly brought in Steinfeld with an eye to her taking over the franchise if Pitch Perfect 2 does as well as the first film.

Filming kicks off soon with Elizabeth Banks directing. A May 2015 release date has already been set.

Romeo & Juliet (2013) (Blu-ray)

February 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Starring: Douglas Booth, Hailee Steinfeld, Ed Westwick, Damian Lewis, Kodi Smit-McPhee
Director: Carlo Carlei
Running Time: 118 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: February 3rd 2014

There was plenty of eye-rolling when it was announced a new version of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet was in the works. Many asked whether after Franco Zeferelli and Baz Luhrmann’s versions, we needed another take. However in my opinion there’s no real problem with doing Romeo & Juliet on film again – but you do need to bring something new to the party, or at least do the old stuff so well it’s riveting in its own right. Jonathan Mostow Is Going For The Dogs, Directing The Sam Worthington Film

August 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jonathan-MostowLast January, Philip Noyce signed up to direct Sam Worthington in the thriller For The Dogs. However he’s now left the project and been replaced by Terminator 3 and Surrogates helmer Jonathan Mostow, according to Variety.

The film is based on Kevin Wignall’s novel about a lone assassin who agrees to help a bright college girl (Hailee Steinfeld) exact revenge on those who mercilessly murdered her parents and younger brother.

Oren Moverman wrote the script (working from Paul Leyden’s earlier draft). It’s not clear when it will shoot. Earlier this year they were hoping to shoot towards the end of 2013, but Steinfeld is currently due to start filming Barely Lethal in October, while Worthington will likely be heading for the Avatar sequel set early next year. So presumably the plan is to slot it into between those films.
