The Wolverine CinemaCon Trailer – Take look at more footage from Logan’s return

May 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine on July 26th, and while we had a trailer a few weeks ago, some new footage has now popped up online in a exclusive trailer made for CinemaCon. Some we’ve seen already but there’s some new stuff too, which doesn’t add much to our understanding of the story, it looks cool.

Here’s the story: ‘Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.’

Take a look above.

Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. The Wolverine International Trailer – A darker yet action packed tale for Hugh Jackman

March 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There have been a couple of teases, but now the full international trailer for The Wolverine is here, which suggests this is going to be a darker tale for Hugh Jackman’s Logan. There’s also plenty of interesting info included, such as the idea that Wolverine could be become mortal again, as well as a very brief image of an old flame we didn’t think we’d see in the X-Men world again.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

It also appears Hugh’s going to spend much of the movie with his shirt off, as the screen grabs below show.

The film hits cinemas in July.

Hugh Jackman’s Got His Claws Out In A New Wolverine Poster

March 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

wolverine-teaser-poster2
It doesn’t look like Hugh Jackman’s Logan is simply going to be having a nice holiday in Japan in the upcoming The Wolverine, as this poster shows him on his knees, with his claws out, screaming into a storm.

It’s a pretty good poster, and suggests that this will be less popcorn nonsense that X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

It hits cinemas in July.

Hugh Jackman Circling Harlan Coben Adaptation, Six Years

March 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hugh-jackman-600pxFollowing The Wolverine and X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Hugh Jackman has said that he’s planning to hang up his claws for a while and take on more non-mutant projects. One film he’s currently circling is an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel Six Years, according to THR. Paramount Pictures beat out 20th Century Fox and at least three other bidders for the movie rights to the book, which hits US shop shelves today.

The novel is about Jake Fisher, a man ‘who watched the love of his life, Natalie, marry another man. Six years have passed when Jake comes across the other man’s obituary. He resolves to attend the funeral, hoping to catch a glimpse of Natalie. But the mourning widow is not Natalie, throwing all of his past memories with the woman into question.’

It’s early days as no screenwriter or director has been attached yet, although Tom Rothman is in talks to produce alongside Mark Gordon.

Hugh Jackman Confirmed As Wolverine For X-Men: Days of Future Past

December 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hugh-jackman-wolverine-pic1A couple of weeks ago it was revealed that Hugh Jackman was in talks to play Wolverine once more in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Now it’s been confirmed that he will indeed be part of the movie, with director Bryan Singer tweeting, ‘I would officially like to welcome @realhughjackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited!More to come…’

As Days Of Future Past is a time-travel tale and Wolverine doesn’t age very much, Jackman could appear in either the past or future sections of the plot, or indeed both. The plot sees the younger Professor X, Magneto and other mutants having to time-travel in order to prevent a terrible future from occuring. This means that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will get to interact with their older counterparts, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

Hugh Jackman is also playing the mutant in James Mangold’s The Wolverine. The film tells the story of Logan’s samurai training in Japan. It will hit theaters July 26th, 2013. X-Men: Days Of Future Past meanwhile hits cinemas in 2014.

Ace New The Wolverine Motion Poster Debuts

December 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A superb new motion poster for The Wolverine has debuted over at the movie’s international site, showing Hugh Jackman’s mutant getting shirtless and rather damp on a Japanese roof. Although it’s not the most action packed on images, it certainly makes us want to know what he’s going to do with that sword.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.’

The Wolverine opens on July 26th, 2013.

Brand New Les Miserables Song Arrives In New Featurette

December 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While most of the score for the film version of Les Miserables is what lovers of the musical will know from the stage, there’s one new song that’s been added for the movie – ‘Suddenly’. Now a featurette has popped up all about the song, which was written by the creators of the original musical, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil. The featurette has people talking through most of it, but it does let us hear parts of the Hugh Jackman sung ditty.

The featurette is largely about the director, writer and producer telling us all about why this new tune was a necessary addition, although many will be wondering whether they’re protesting a little too much. Many people feel the only reason to add a fresh song is so that the film is  eligible for the Best Original Song Oscar, which is only open to new music written specifically for a film. It’s a strategy that’s worked before, such as the movie version of Evita picking up the award for the new song ‘You Must Love Me’.

Whether it’s needed or not, you can take a bit of a listen to ‘Suddenly’ above.

Terrence Howard Joins Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal In Prisoners

December 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The cast for Prisoners is getting incredibly good, with Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Paul Dano, Viola Davis, and Maria Bello already attached to the film, and they’ve now been joined by Terrence Howard, according to Deadline.

Denis Villeneuve (Incendies) is set to direct, with Hugh Jackman as a distraught father who takes the law into his own hands to find his kidnapped daughter, when he think the authorities aren’t doing enough. He clashes with a big city detective (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is assigned to the case.

Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband) wrote the screenplay, with filming on the movie set to begin in February. An autumn 2013 release is being eyed.
