Mississippi Grind Gets Jake Gyllenhaal

August 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If Jake Gyllenhaal said he wanted to Mississippi Grind me, I wouldn’t even ask him what that was, I’d just let him got to town, but that’s actually just the name of the film he’s signed up to star in. Half Nelson and It’s Kind Of A Funny Story directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are set to helm the gambling drama, according to THR.

The film is about a veteran gambler, who is over his head in debt. He recruits a younger gambling addict (Jake Gyllenhaal) to raise enough money to pay down his money owed. They travel across the American south with a vision to win back the money he lost. The producers are still searching for someone to play the older gambler.

The directing duo will work from a script they wrote. It isn’t clear when Mississippi Grind might shoot.

End Of Watch Red Band Trailer – The Jake Gyllenhaal cop drama gets expletive laden

August 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jake Gyllenhaal is certainly trying out a new look in End Of Watch, with his hair completely shaved off as he goes cop and heads out onto the mean streets. The film stars Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena as two LAPD cops who take pride in their work and friendship, but one day see their lives come under even more threat than usual. The new Red Band trailer suggests the movie is going to try and put you in thick of the action, almost like it’s a documentary. The film is out in the UK on November 23rd, 2012.

Jake Gyllenhaal Gets Sexily Beardy For A New Details Cover

August 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jake Gyllenhaal rarely takes a bad photo, but even I was surprised by how hot he looks with a full-on woofy beard on the cover of the new Details magazine. It just deepens my almost stalker-ish crush on him. He’ll next appear in End Of Watch, which hits UK cinemas November 23rd.

Jake Gyllenhaal Is An Enemy

March 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Some people would already consider Jake Gyllenhaal an enemy, as the actor manages to bring out a strange and rather inexplicable sense of loathing in some. We like him here though! And now Jake’s in talks to star in an film called An Enemy for director Denis Villeneuve (Incendies).

Jake Gyllenhaal will play a downtrodden history teacher who discovers a man who looks exactly like him on a rented DVD. The teacher decides to seek out his double, and ends up turning both their lives upside down. Jake Gyllenhaal will portray both roles, which are described as “dark and edgy” despite the premise almost sounding like a comedy.

Denis Villeneuve will direct from a screenplay by Javier Gullón, which is adapted from the Jose Saramango novel, The Double. Shooting will start relatively soon, as Villeneuve wants to shoot An Enemy before he starts production on Prisoners, which stars Hugh Jackman.

Jake Gyllenhaal Replaces Dominic Cooper In Motor City

March 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Who’s better – Jake Gyllenhaal or Dominic Cooper? I can imagine both have their fans, but Jake is probably the bigger star, and he has now stepped in to replace Cooper as the male lead in Warner Bros.’ crime thriller Motor City, according to Variety. Dominic backed out due to scheduling conflicts, presumably because the Motor City clashes with Cities, which he recently signed up for.

Gyllenhaal will play an ex-con who gets released from prison and sets off on a quest for vengeance, seeking out the men who framed him. Amber Heard will be the female lead, while Gary Oldman is set to play the villain.

Albert Hughes, best known for directing the likes of From Hell and The Book Of Eli with his brother Allen, is helming Motor City from Chad St. John’s screenplay, which landed on the Black List back in 2009. It isn’t known when the movie will shoot.

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 22 – Jake Gyllenhaal

December 22, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be an oddly polarizing figure, with many have an odd disliking of him. But let’s face it, if he knocked on your door and said he couldn’t survive unless the two of you went to the bedroom immediately, you wouldn’t send him away, would you?

Since hitting the big time following Donnie Darko, few people have done more to popularise not wearing a shirt in movies. His roles in Jarhead, Prince Of Persia and Love & Other Drugs vie against one another for how few clothes you can wear in a film without it getting x-rated. It also ensures we get the nice Christmassy shirtless images from Jarhead you can see above and below.

Jake is near the top of my Hollywood hotties list, as he’s had a special place in my heart ever since Brokeback Mountain, and it hasn’t hurt that whether it’s a film role or a photoshoot, he seems to feel he’s failed if he’s fully clothed all the way through.

Brokeback Mountain (DVD)

November 2, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams
Director: Ang Lee
Running Time: 128 mins

In the 1960s, Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist get a job shepherding on Wyoming’s Brokeback Mountain. Slowly they fall in love, starting a 30-year relationship that endures through their marriages and attempts to stay apart. Jack wants to be with Ennis full time, but the taciturn cowboy is too scared of that, which only allows them brief ‘fishing’ holidays in the wilderness. Even so, they just can’t quit each other.
