It turns out being left behind by your family as an eight-year-old while they all go off on holiday leaves some mental scars, especially if it resulted in you having to fight off a couple of home invaders who are out to get you. While the words ‘Kevin McCallister’ and ‘Home Alone’ aren’t mentioned, it’s quite clear that’s the territory we’re in during the first episode of the web show :DRYVERS.
The video features Moldy Peaches guitarist Jack Dishel as a man getting a ride via some sort of Uber-style app, who gets picked up by none other than Macaulay Culkin (or at least the character he’s playing). The slightly manic driver then lets his passenger know why he doesn’t get on with his mother, telling a story you’ll recognise from the hit 1990 comedy. However, it turns out ‘Kevin’s’ ingenuity and ability to inflict pain hasn’t subsided over the last 25 years, even if it’s taken him to some rather dark places.
It’s a fun vid, and good to see Culkin on-screen again. I had previously thought the events of Home Alone would have seriously screwed that kid up, and it appears I was right. Take a look below.
