Back in February it was announced that Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan were getting married – at least on screen. Now, to mark the beginning of shooting on the film (it went before the camera starting May 11th in New Mexico), the first pic has been released via THR.
The film sees Rudd and Coogan as a troubled, bickering married couple with an extravagant life. Coogan is a demanding celebrity while Rudd is his more hesitant partner and sidekick (although as the pic shows, he’s looking pretty cool). Their relationship is thrown a complete curveball when the grandson that Coogan’s character never knew he had shows up at their home with nowhere else to go. The couple reluctantly decide to take him in, forcing them to take stock of their relationship.
However, I have to say I’m not sure whether the cowboy look is Coogan’s best.
Andrew Fleming, who’s previously made the likes of Threesome, The Craft and Hamlet 2 (which starred Coogan) will direct. It’ll hopefully not be too long before it’s in cinemas (it’s currently looking for distributors at Cannes).
Paul Rudd made a name for himself in comedy and more recently has been proving his action skills in the Marvel universe as Ant Man. Now he’s keen to show he’s a dab hand at drama, as 
Yesterday at SXSW Seth Rogen presented a work-in-progress screening on his R-rated, CG animated movie Sausage Party. It got pretty good buzz, even if it wasn’t finished, with many suggesting it’s a smart and funny movie, which takes a sideways look at belief and religion.
While there have been quite a few images and posters for Captain America: Civil War, they’ve deliberately shied away from showing us one of the main things everyone wants to see – Spider-man’s first appearance in a Marvel movie. The deal between Sony and Marvel allowed it to happen, and Tom Holland was cast in the role, with Civil War marking his first appearance before he gets a standalone movie.
I’m presuming next year’s crop of tenpole movies will see a lot of superheroes heading off for relationship counselling, as this year they’re all fighting. After Batman v Superman we’ll be getting Captain America: Civil War, which will see the Avengers fighting with one another, with the two sides led by the Cap and Iron Man.
Pretty much everyone from Avengers is showing up in Captain America: Civil War, except for Thor and Hulk (but that’s because they’re teaming up for their own adventure). As a result, Marvel is hoping the film is going to be huge and so it’s no suprise they felt the need for a Super Bowl spot, which you can take a look at below.
Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones has been caught up for the last couple of years making Warcraft: The Beginning, but he’s now going back to a movie he was planning before the fantasy film took over – Mute.
Marvel hasn’t had a real failure yet despite making films from properties many people couldn’t work on screen. That’s certainly true of Ant-Man, especially after director Edgar Wright left it behind, as many thought he was the only one who could turn it into something worthwhile.
