Paul Rudd May Take Admission Opposite Tina Fey

March 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few days ago we reported that Owen Wilson was eying a role in Admission, opposite Tin Fey, with both of them going in a less overtly comic direction for the film than we tend to associate with them. Now the LA Times suggests Wilson has decided against the movie and Paul Rudd is interested in taking his place, with early talks taking place between the actor and filmmakers.

Based on Jean Hanff Korelitz’s novel, Fey will play an Ivy League admissions officer named Portia Nathan whose relationship with a 17-year-old recruitment prospect threatens to unravel her personal, romantic, and professional lives. Rudd would play a teacher at an alternative high school who falls for Fey.

Fey has now committed to the movie, although Rudd is currently less certain. Director Paul Weitz hopes to shoot the movie in June, once Fey has finished the current season of 30 Rock.

Wanderlust Red Band trailer

February 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s comedy time with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston, and a trailer where you can’t tell if this film will be fun or just excruciating! George (Rudd) and Linda (Aniston) are an overextended, stressed out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, they find themselves with only one option: to move in with George’s awful brother in Atlanta. On the way there, George and Linda stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colourful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things. Money? It can’t buy happiness. Careers? Who needs them? Clothes? Only if you want them! Wanderlust hits UK cinemas March 2nd, 2012.

First Photo From Judd Apatow’s This Is 40 & Adam Sandler’s Donny’s Son

January 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first images have arrived online for a couple of films that are hoping to be this year’s big comedy hits – This Is 40 and Donny’s Son. The pic above is our first look at This Is 40, Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up spin-off, which focuses on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s married couple, Pete and Debiie. The two children in the image are Maude Apatow and Iris Apatow, Judd’s real-life daughters, who play Pete and Debbie’s two kids in the movie. Not too much is known about the plot, other than it’ll be a coming-of-midlife dramedy. The film is currently set for UK release on December 21st.

Below is the first image from Donny’s Son, previously known as I Hate You, which pairs former Saturday Night Live cast member Adam Sandler with current SNL-er Andy Samberg as a father and son who don’t quite see eye-to-eye. Sandler dad-character moves in with his son right before his wedding and soon begins sparring with his prospective daughter-in-law. It’s due out September 7th.

Owen Wilson Thinks Freezing People is Easy

January 5, 2012 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Earlier today we reported that Kristen Wiig doesn’t want to make a second Bridesmaids movie, but now she’s got a different project in the works, in which she’d star alongside Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken and Paul Rudd (who’s been attached since last year).

The film is Errol Morris’ Freezing People Is Easy, based on Robert F. Nelson‘s memoir We Froze the First Man and a This American Life segment titled You’re as Cold as Ice. Zach Helm is on screenplay duties for the fact based tale about Nelson, a TV repairman who attempted to devise his own method of cryogenic perservation in the 1960s. Things don’t go quite as planned, and Nelson winds up having to apologise to the families of those he’s tried and failed to freeze.

Rudd is in line for the central role, but it isn’t certain who the others will be. However Deadline believes they’re all pretty much locked in for the film, presuming the shoot stays on schedule for the middle of the year.
