The Details certainly has a good cast, with Tobey Maguire in the lead (who replaced the originally cast James McAvoy), joined by Ray Liotta, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Line, Kerry Washington, Sam Trammell and Dennis Haysbert. Maguire and Banks play a couple whose marriage starts disintegrating when raccoons start burrowing in their garden. Yes, that’s right, this is a movie about the trauma of raccoons. Apparently the animal pests set off a chain of events that ends up with infidelity and murder! The film arrives in the US on November 2nd, but no UK release is set yet.
Ray Liotta Getting Stuck Into The Rut
Although from a British perspective it’s tough to imagine all that many people wanting to pay to watch a movie about hunting deer, shooting things is popular in the States and so you can get a film like The Rut. The movie now has a new cast member, as Variety reports that Ray Liotta is set to take on the villain role in director Karyn Kusama’s (Jennifer’s Body) film.
Chloe Moretz is playing the lead role in the movie, which is described as a mix between Whale Rider and Winter’s Bone. The story follows a young girl who sets out on a lone deer hunt in the woods to impress her father (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Ray Liotta will play an obsessive bow hunter who considers Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character his bitter rival.
The film will shoot later this year for release next year.
Chiklis & Whitaker Reunite For Pawn
Actors Michael Chiklis and Forest Whitaker worked together on quite a few episodes of The Shield. Now it seems they’re reuniting as Deadline reports they’ve both signed on for the indie thriller Pawn. Ray Liotta and Common have also signed on, although it isn’t known what roles these actors will play.
The story centres on an ex-con who gets caught up in a hostage situation gone terribly awry, where he has to fend off the local police, FBI agents, and the mob. David A. Armstrong will make his directorial debut with Pawn, working from a screenplay by Jay Anthony White.
Michael Chiklis will also make his feature producing debut, working alongside Brad Luff, Jeff Most, and Michael Becker. Production is slated to begin December 1.
